Warm Heart is lucky to have Saa. She is the best friend of one of our superstars, Naan, who fought to get her a place at Warm Heart.
We are so glad she did, although we are not surprised that Naan’s best friend is a superstar herself!
Saa is sixteen, a Lahu girl from the remote village of Mae Poon Lant, over the mountains in the next province of Chiang Rai.
Like Naan, Saa is from a very poor family of subsistence farmers with high hopes for their children, hopes she takes very seriously.
Like Naan, also, Saa is a helper, always drifting between homework assistance in the dining room and lending a helping hand in the kitchen, or hanging out in the library, helping the little ones with reading, board games or the computer.
Saa does well in school, and is debating between a career in nursing (influenced by our public health worker) and marketing (influenced by the international volunteers who manage our website).
