Age 12
Grade 6th
Recent Report Card
A is in a growth spurt and is rapidly becoming a young man. He completed 5th grade with a strong report card – a 3.16 average at the end of March. He started 6th grade when the new school year started on July 1, 6-weeks late, due to the COVID19 lockdown. Luckily, due to tight travel restrictions, our area had very limited infection rates.
A is always reliable, polite and a big help. During the long school break, he kept his two younger brothers plus two new boys and his “little sister” (the 4 year old adopted daughter of our head housemother) busy and out of trouble. When he had finished the day’s gardening and clean-up, he unlocked the bicycles and raced around the grounds, making sure, each child had a turn or was loaded onto his back seat. History
2016
In 2016 we had a flu epidemic run through Warm Heart (fun times!). A was a sickie – but not so sick that he ever stopped worrying about his little brothers, B and C. That is what makes A special. In the year and a half that he has been with us, A has learned a lot of Thai, shed his initial aloofness, joined the boys’ pack and taken to school. But he has never given up being guardian to his brothers. He always has an eye out for them, is there when one of them cries, makes sure they get enough at meals, and shares every treat he gets equally with them. It is impossible to take any of the boys shopping and offer a snack that cannot be divided into three – or be forced by big eyes to get two more for the other brothers!

Journey to Warm Heart
A is a competitive boy and one of Warm Heart’s newest arrivals. A and his two little brothers, conveniently named B and C, came to Warm Heart in early 2014. A young woman noticed the boys wandering around a farm – and, what else, called Warm Heart.
Their parents worked far away, leaving the boys alone for long periods of time. This left big brother A as the caregiver for B and C.
Warm Heart helped move the boys to Ton Roong Boarding School. After six months of tracking their progress, Warm Heart decided to bring the boys to Warm Heart full time.
When A arrived he spoke only Akha. A and his brothers are now members of the core “family” of kids who live at Warm Heart year around.
Today
Since arriving at Warm Heart, A has become nearly fluent in Thai and has begun attending the level one English class provided by volunteers.
A’s favorite activities are art and playing football. He also loves to eat and is always going back for seconds.
His favorite color is blue.
Warm Heart Chief of Staff, PJ, says A is very energetic and a hard worker in the field during chores.
One of the greatest things about A is that despite being surrounded by 39 other children you can see how clearly he cares for his little brothers.
