This year has brought unprecedented challenges, demonstrations of extraordinary strength, moments of jarring failures, a realization of the things we take for granted, and – perhaps most importantly – a showing of the resilience of the human spirit.
As people across the board are questioning what matters and what doesn’t, we are convinced that the work we do does. Now more than ever.
When COVID-19 struck and spread, our world changed. And, it probably will never quite go back to what it once was. A multitude of challenges and trials accompany transformations, but so does the opportunity for reinvention and growth. That’s what is next for us. We are working to adjust our mission, our goals, and our objectives to this new world so that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need us to stand by them.
When faced with this challenge of a lifetime, we adapted and responded to ensure that no one fell through the cracks. We took every step possible to ensure the safety of the children who live with us because they don’t have any other homes to go to, we welcomed with open arms any child who needed our help in navigating these uncertain times, we brought home our graduates who lost their jobs, we created a program to support the newly unemployed across the rural North by helping them learn to farm, we donated biochar to an agricultural development project, and we started raising funds to create a vocational training program to provide workplace skills to the unemployed in rural areas.
We couldn’t have done any of this without all the members of our Warm Heart family. We thank you from the bottom of hearts and we couldn’t be prouder of you.
Yet there is more to do. We know we can do more. We need to do more. And, we will. We will share our future plans with all of you soon. Stay tuned!
