#GlobalGiving’s #MoveAMillion Incentive Fund

On GivingTuesday 2,228 nonprofit organization participated in the #MoveAMillion incentive program, and through 16,518 donations raised $3,342,653. The $1 Million bonus money was divided among all participants based on what percentage of the overall amount they raised.

Warm Heart Results of #GivingTuesday Donations:

Your generosity brought in $32,307 for Warm Heart Projects. Our bonus share of the #MoveAMillon incentive added another $10,000, so in total we raised $42,307.

Harnessing the Power of the Sun

This year Warm Heart is asking for your help to go solar.

“Warm Heart needs to go solar to cut our negative impact on the environment. We grow our own food, the programs we promote help reduce greenhouse gas and PM2.5 emissions, improve public health & reduce rural poverty.

But we still depend on traditional power, power that is generated with coal and increasingly with Mekong River killing hydro! The minute we go solar and get off the grid, our weight on the environment is lifted, and our children will have a stable power source for online learning.“

We will be running our campaign on #GlobalGiving on November 30.

#GlobalGiving is sponsoring an incentive campaign “MoveAMillion”, a One Million Dollar matching funds campaign for #GivingTuesday. All of our projects are eligible, you can view all our projects at #GlobalGiving Projects page to choose your favorite

Top 6 Reasons we want to go solar:

• Reduce our footprint from dirty energy consumption

• Save money that can be put to better use

• Relieve current overload on community energy need

• Potential to provide excess solar power to local utility

• Encourage other local big energy users to go solar

• Provide stable and reliable power source to keep the lights on! (We have almost daily blackout periods).

We needed to go solar a long time ago, but the urgency of our quickly expanding work in climate change solutions, and the immediate need of caring for all of our Warm Heart children always take priority. Solar has been on the back burner.

Solar has become more affordable and attainable since prices have come down.

Last year you helped us buy a school bus on #GivingTuesday, which was simply amazing! So we thought this year we would focus our hopes on raising enough to install solar at Warm Heart. But that is only our first step. We will be pursuing a simple solution to make solar for the community available, including for the elderly and disabled homes.
