Chatree Saokaew, Executive Director
Chatree completed a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Rajabhat University in Chiang Mai, Thailand. His professional experience includes teaching youth leadership programs in Laos, Myanmar, and Northern Thailand. While in Northern Thailand at Maejadee Wittayakom School, Chatree he played a crucial role in raising the quality of instruction at the school and received the Teacher of the Year award in 2004, also that year, the school received the Award of Excellence in Well-rounded Education, a highly esteemed award from Thailand's Royal Family. In 2007, Chatree received the Best Teacher Award from his students at the Development Education Programme for Daughters and Communities Centre (DEPDC) where he taught over 200 underprivileged and stateless children, grades 1-6. He also became a recognized mini-marathon coach in the Chiang Rai and Phayao provinces when his team won an outstanding 36 trophies in one running season. Through a combination of athletics, child-centered learning, and life relevant education, Chatree single-handedly decreased the DEPDC high student drop-out rate by 90%. He hopes to apply similar strategies here in Phrao to increase the quality of life starting with increasing the quality of education.
